Kevin Harrington is an American entrepreneur, business executive, and investor best known as an original "shark" on the hit ABC reality television series "Shark Tank." He is widely recognized as a pioneer in the direct-to-consumer marketing industry and the creator of the infomercial.
Born in 1956, Harrington began his entrepreneurial journey at a young age. In the 1980s, he recognized the potential of using available airtime on cable networks to sell products directly to consumers. This insight led him to create the infomercial concept, revolutionizing how products were marketed on television.
In 1984, Harrington founded Quantum International, which grew into a multi-million dollar corporation. He went on to launch HSN Direct, a joint venture with the Home Shopping Network, and served as CEO of several successful companies including Reliant International Media and Harrington Business Development.
Throughout his career, Harrington has launched over 500 products and dozens of businesses, generating more than $5 billion in global sales. His portfolio includes successful products like the Ginsu Knife, The Great Wok of China, and the Flying Lure fishing system.
As one of the original "sharks" on the first season of "Shark Tank" in 2009, Harrington evaluated business pitches and invested in promising startups, helping to popularize the concept of entrepreneurial reality TV.
